Combat is entertaining, but its a uncohesive experience. Tons of drives, heaps of missions (most of these useless), story is presented like a"all cutscenes of x match" movie on youtube, advertisement then it gets to a place where you simply repeat the very same assignments over and over. I understand that its a grindy match, but that part came too fast for my tastes. Also the monetization is atrocious. Its also much like a meseta pso2 cellular game, although I understand that its f2p and they got ta earn cash. Multiple currencies, always being reminded of just how much better of a time youd have in case you paid, etc. I just went back to ffxiv and am preparing for the fall expac in fate 2 after viewing that the sub in pso2 barely gives you some benefits in regards to earning Phantasy Star Online 2 convenient.

I am fine with f2p doing money but seriously pso2 is actually awful in this, first day on PC and you also got prompt for 6 distinct limited time events, what's a lootbox etc.. Game is really enjoyable and battle is the best part. As soon as you get beyond the problems of MS store Phantasy Star Online 2 runs flawless (for me ). Controls are responsive and extremely controller/m friendly. This could have been the smoothest launches on a MMO, if it wasn't for the MS shop fucking shit up.Without mentioning the monetization, you can not discuss a free-to-play MMO. Some games handle it well (Warframe), and others beg one to crack open your wallet at virtually every turn (Black Desert Online). Phantasy Star Online 2 type of drops into the center. The whole game is playable free of charge, and I wasn't able to find some significant content. Even the mill to level up and make loot that is greater felt balanced around free-play, therefore not once did I feel like a second class citizen. However, that does not mean Phantasy Star Online 2 is not packed to the gills with a way to invest money.

There are scratcher tickets which are essentially loot boxes and a battle pass full of cosmetics, and even a standalone cosmetic store. While I'm not fond of lootboxes, Phantasy Star Online 2 never pushed them in my face outside of a simple tutorial which described how to earn"FUN" points for the free version (yes, there are multiple themed loot boxes to pick from in Phantasy Star Online 2). The cosmetics from the free ticket had been less intriguing than people stashed away within the top ones, but I was able to discount the scratcher tickets entirely once that Client Order was from the way.

Outside of loading screens Phantasy Star Online 2 doesn't inundate you with a billion prompts to spend. Issue is Phantasy Star Online 2 isn't reluctant to cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta subtly push them. Your gift trees cannot be reset without paying money, nor will you alter your Mag for free (a Tamagotchi of types that offers help in battle). If you plan to never spend a dime you'll need to locate a construct on the internet for your class and Mag, because any mistake will cost you.
