Diablo 4's development history is very intriguing. After the launch of Reaper of Souls and cancellation of King from Diablo Gold the North for Diablo 3, development would be changed to some"Project Hades." This was, effectively, Diablo 4 before it was canceled and replaced with"Fenris." Project Fenris has been the originally code name for the form of Diablo 4 currently in development.

Fenris is clearly a tried-and-true follow-up to Diablo 3. The way that it lives up to its predecessor remains to be seen, but it fits into the standard formulation, even where it has and is likely to deviate. On the flip side, Hades was such a far cry from Diablo 4 which it's possible that is why it was canceled. Notably, Hades probably could not have launched and been titled Diablo 4, but it's the best premise for an eventual spin-off or brand new release in the increased franchise.

Hades would have been a game set from the franchise but in the style of Dark Souls. Notably, this was the primary job from 2014-2016, which was a small high for Soulslikes. Project Hades would have been Diablo's take on Dark Souls, called a over-shoulder third-person dungeon crawler. Unfortunately, the job never manifested and has been cancelled due to because of a rigorous development cycle.

While exacts of this job never manifested, it is an interesting idea nonetheless. Soulslikes have never really hit the pedigree offered by FromSoftware, but Diablo is this established franchise that the potential for a lovechild between it and Dark Souls can definitely perk the ears. It is possible some take this is from the works at Blizzard, that is if it did not completely abandon the idea, but that is simply speculation and is true unlikely.

Attempting to guess where it could have travelled, it's possible that Diablo 4 classes (the Barbarian, the Druid, and the Sorceress) could be manifested in such a match. This will likely combine Dark Souls-style gameplay and course approach, with Diablo 4 providing the total taste. It is not tough to envision approaching of a single Dark Souls' notoriously difficult bosses, with the melee ability of Diablo's Barbarian course, a exceptional tank build for the Druid, and also the magic might of the Sorceress. It could have been a perfect pairing of electricity fantasy and involved, hard, and punishing gameplay.

There's a slew of reasons that Diablo may want to buy Diablo IV Gold stick to its ARPG path, and it can not be faulted for this. However, a Blizzard-led Dark Souls-esque job might just sound like a pipe dream for lovers of both franchise.
